You may be asked to resubmit your photos or a face to face appointment may be offered to you as an alternative option.
Tips on taking photos:
1. Don't try and take the photos yourself, get someone to take it for you. Make sure the lighting is adequate, and the photos are focussed.
2. If you are taking a photo of a skin lesion, make sure you mark the lesion or biopsy site with a pen or marker before you take the photos. Send two photos. One should be a close up where the lesion takes up about 30% of the photo. The other should be taken slightly further away, to include two other anatomical features so that we can tell where the lesion is. For example, if the lesion is on your forearm, your photo should include your wrist and your elbow; if the lesion is on your back, your photo should include your shoulder and your armpit, or your hip and your buttock; if the lesion is on you face, you should include an eye, a nose, the jawline, or the ear.
3. If you are taking a photo of your body/chest, don't include your face. Please don't cover the areas that is the purpose of your consultation. Always take three photos, one from the front, and one from each side.
4. Check your background, it is always best to take the photos in front of a door or wall with the light shining on you from behind the photographer.
5. Do not take the photos in front of a window or light, as this will give you bad lighting and poor focus.
